First Birthday And First Graduation!
Well, what an exciting week we have had at Exceptional Bears…
It was our first ‘Online’ birthday!
We have had many lively discussions between groups over the past few weeks about how to celebrate this momentous event.
It was decided that whatever we chose to do, it should be something lasting.
Everyone was allowed a say and the suggestions veered from the modest to the full blown crazy!
Several of the ‘Grizzly’s’ wanted a couple of tree houses built just for them, with insulated nests, rope ladders, swings and a walkway between them. But I think they have been watching way too much David Attenborough again!
Charlie Bears Mandy, Nancy, Blancmange and Gladrags thought that a ‘weekend spa and shopping trip’ would be an excellent way for them to celebrate?
We had several suggestions for picnics and seaside trips, but none of these seemed to be ‘lasting’ in ways which would bring long-term benefit for present and future bears.
Bear had been particularly quiet during the increasingly eccentric suggestions. Then he and Meg Bear came to see me with a very innovative idea, involving a project close to their hearts.
Just before Christmas they had both been instrumental in setting up our Curiosity Cupboard Club. Since then we have had many lost and lonely bears join this club for bears with no name tags or who don’t have an identity.
They asked if to celebrate Exceptional Bears first online birthday we could do something special for all the bears in the Curiosity Cupboard?
This seemed such an exciting idea, that we all sat down immediately for a brainstorming session.
We decided to invest all the bears in the Curiosity Cupboard Club from now on with ‘Collection’ status!
Now we will have a ‘Curiosity Cupboard Collection’ and as these bears do not have identity tags to take with them to their new homes… they will graduate from Exceptional Bears with a ‘Certificate of Excellence’.
Sure enough, a day after this decision, our first Curiosity Cupboard Collection candidate was adopted by a new family.
So, Charlie Bear DUNCAN graduated from the Curiosity Cupboard Collection with his Certificate of Excellence and much excitement. He has now joined his adopted family.
Bear and Meg Bear never turn any bear away and this growing Collection has now blossomed into a happy, confident group with all of them eagerly awaiting their turn to be adopted ?
What a fantastic First Birthday and such a positive legacy to take forward…
