Bear Looks For ~ Silver Linings and Smiles Galore!
Here we are in January 2020, not just the beginning of a New Year but… the beginning of an actual ‘New Decade’!
Wow, this is something a bit special!
After all the excitement of Christmas and Bear’s Birthday… plus, his Birthday Wish that we extend the BearHugs Kindness Advent Calendar into January, we have been busy putting together our Kindness Tasks.
We have all managed to turn the calendar upside down and repeat the Advent tasks for this month, plus a few more to take us up to the 31st January!
Now we are going to choose a monthly Kindness Task for Exceptional Bears for every month in 2020, as we all decided that this would be a really positive way to mark the beginning of a New Decade!
We would be delighted if any of our wonderful friends would join us in pledging to perform an act of Kindness each month until next Christmas!
This doesn’t have to be a big undertaking, just being aware of giving a kind word or warm smile can be enough to give someone’s day a ‘silver lining’ ?
This was something that I was thinking about a few days ago when the weather was still wet, cold and gloomy…
We had been indoors for a couple of days and were definitely missing the fresh air and our regular walk in the woods.
But, later that day the wet weather dispersed and the sun was certainly trying to shine!
The saying…
“every cloud has a silver lining”
means that even the worst events or situations have some positive aspect. (www.vocabulary.com)
With thoughts of silver linings in my head and a smile on my face, I looked up and noticed… ‘an actual silver lining’ in the sky! ?
I grabbed my coat, Bear and Meg Bear and we all trooped down the lane over the little bridge and went for a wander in the woods.
Once out of the woods, we skipped across the mossy stones alongside the little river and climbed up onto the moor.
This led to many photos being taken and a smiley, happy little band sitting resting whilst watching the birds, rabbits and a squirrel scampering about their business.
Then, as the sun set over the hill we climbed back down the hill home, all the better for the couple of hours in the fresh air and peaceful surroundings.
Later, that evening I got to thinking… sometimes ‘silver linings’ are obvious, like in my photo of the sky, but sometimes I will need to look a bit further into certain situations to discover where a ‘hidden positive’ can be found.
But… one thing I am sure about is that in almost every situation/challenge one can find a positive aspect to use or learn from as we go through life.
Even, if it is just… ‘Ooops – that didn’t work, I won’t do that again’!
We hope that you find ‘Smiles Galore’ in all the ‘Silver Linings’ waiting for you around each corner as you travel through 2020!
Have a great week and let me and Bear know if you and your bears have any thoughts on this post or have had any unusual adventures!
